Primo Espresso is a full-service operator of caf\u00e9 bars in companies and institutions. Primo Espresso operates throughout Germany and employs a workforce of over 100. Since 2013, the company has engaged in carbon accounting in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol \u2013 in the scope 3 area with the addition of the \u2018Corporate Value Chain Accounting and Reporting Standard\u2019.
\nPrimo Espresso is continually working to avoid and reduce emissions. Unavoidable emissions have been fully offset by sustainable forestry management since 2013. In the future, the company wants to become climate positive and achieve negative emissions.<\/p>\n

Collaboration With the Alliance<\/strong><\/p>\n

Primo Espresso actively promotes climate neutrality and the promotion of sustainable development among its business contacts. \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tEthiopia is not only one of the poorest countries in the world; it also only has 3 per cent of its mature forest remaining. <\/strong>\r\n\r\nEnvironmental destruction and the overexploitation of the forests affect the agricultural sector \u2013 which offers over 90 per cent of Ethiopia\u2019s population a livelihood \u2013 in various ways, including by intensifying soil erosion. The Sodo reforestation project now protects and reforests\u00a0 the degraded forest on the slopes of Mount Damota. In total, over 1.2 million trees are to be protected or planted. The project is being implemented by the local population and has created over 2,000 jobs. The proceeds flow into local development initiatives such as education, health and climate action projects. The CO2<\/sub>e project also helps conserve over 50 native species of tree \u2013 by protecting existing stock and planting new saplings \u2013 and consequently restores the habitats for a large number of indigenous animal and plant species.\r\n\r\n \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

In 2019, Primo offset all of its previous year\u2019s greenhouse gas emissions \u2013 a total of 1,000\u00a0tonnes. When it comes to selecting offsetting projects, the company only chooses projects certified Gold Standard. What\u2019s more, Primo Espresso sets great store by projects that also contribute to sustainable development in the local area \u2013 whether social, economic or environmental.<\/p>\n
