The Academy – your guide to strategic and effective climate action

How well does your climate strategy already fit into the day-to-day reality of your organisation? And how strongly does it contribute to sustainable development?

At the Academy of the Foundation Development and Climate Alliance, climate targets are translated into a clear framework for decision-making. Climate action is embedded in a way that strengthens both your organisation and sustainable development in the Global South.

Practical, scientifically grounded and tailored to the realities of organisational practice, the programme is designed for companies and organisations that wish to integrate sustainable development and climate action into their strategies or reflect on and further develop existing measures.

Tailored Training

The Academy offers training programmes specifically designed to meet the needs of different sectors and organisational teams.

Flexible and Self-Directed

The format and scheduling of the training can be adapted to organisational needs. Sessions can be conducted online, in person or in a hybrid format.

Practice-Oriented Knowledge Transfer

Experts provide insights into the latest developments and trends and support organisations in successfully translating theoretical knowledge into practical implementation.

Developing and Implementing Climate Strategies

Participants learn how effective climate strategies can be developed and successfully integrated into organisational practice.

Climate action as corporate responsibility

Climate action has become one of the central challenges facing companies and organisations today. Expectations are high – from customers and partners, from investors and from regulatory authorities. At the same time, the framework conditions are complex. Legal requirements continue to evolve, new initiatives are setting standards, and companies must ensure that their climate strategies are credible, effective and future-proof.

Effective corporate climate action requires a clear framework that links strategy, implementation and development impact. This is exactly the framework we develop together with companies in the Academy.

How climate action with development impact can work in your organisation

Many organisations today have climate targets and catalogues of measures. However, a coherent framework that enables these activities to be further developed effectively and communicated clearly and credibly to internal and external stakeholders is often missing.

In many cases, existing climate measures remain fragmented and are not sufficiently embedded in everyday organisational practice.

Within the Academy of the Foundation Development and Climate Alliance, individual measures are brought together and structured into a clear and practical roadmap for effective climate action within organisations.

The programme offers practical and scientifically grounded training that supports organisations wherever orientation is needed – from the development of climate strategies to navigating regulatory requirements and implementing innovative climate action approaches with development impact.

Different formats are available that allow organisations to work directly on their existing activities:

  • Practice-oriented training sessions and workshops to further develop climate strategies
  • Advisory support and sparring formats to clarify responsibilities and processes
  • Training that embeds climate action firmly in meetings, organisational processes and decision-making structures

Informative, up-to-date, in-house

“The training event organised for our organisation was practical and highly relevant. It combined theory and practice very effectively and linked fundamental knowledge with discussion and a forward-looking perspective. All of this was delivered with a neutral and well-balanced view of the topic.”

Karsten Miede, Head of Energy, Business Development and Sustainability at VW Kraftwerk GmbH

Who is the Academy for?

The programme is designed for companies, organisations and institutions that are actively engaging with sustainable development and climate action – regardless of whether they are at an early stage, wish to further develop existing measures, or seek to familiarise themselves with new regulatory and market-based requirements.

The Academy supports organisations in examining their existing climate activities in a broader context, identifying potential trade-offs and providing guidance where regulatory requirements, voluntary climate finance and the question of concrete development impact intersect.

Costs and organisational framework

The participation fee for the Academy amounts to €1,500 per training day and per participant. This fee covers preparation of the training content, training materials and the remuneration of the lecturers.

As the scope, format and composition of participants may vary, conditions are agreed individually depending on the type of organisation, group size and format of delivery.

We would be pleased to discuss your specific needs and possible formats in a personal consultation. Please contact us at: academy@allianz-entwicklung-klima.de
