Profile & Contact

Callirius develops various solutions to close the financing gap in market-based climate protection. Our platform enables high-quality climate projects to access new sources of financing, while companies and investors can invest efficiently and transparently in effective projects. Using a scalable, data-driven and science-based quality assessment (Callirius Quality Framework), we identify risks and analyse the effectiveness of projects in terms of climate, biodiversity and sustainable development.

PROJECT EXAMPLE

BaumInvest Forest Landscape Restoration Programme

Project background
Under the Forest Landscape Restoration Programme, the remote eastern tropical plains of the Orinoquía region in Colombia, adjacent to the Rio Tuparro and the Tuparro National Park, are being reforested. Using a nature-based restoration approach, BaumInvest is transforming degraded pastureland into a self-sustaining forest ecosystem that continues to grow without economic intervention.
Country/Region
Columbia, Orinoquía
Technology
Afforestation with diverse native tree species (Afforestation/Reforestation GHG Emissions Reduction & Sequestration Methodology v2.0)
Standard
Gold Standard for the Global Goals
Status and duration
2025 – 2065
Target group
In the remote project area, local added value is continuously created through the provision of seeds, the operation of tree nurseries and the planting of trees
Effect achieved
Sequestration of 800,000 tonnes CO₂ through afforestation with native tree species on 970 hectares
Co-benefits achieved
A large number of native tree species are being planted as part of the afforestation project. While the project areas are being reforested, they also serve as protected areas and biological corridors for rare and endangered wildlife species, including jaguars and ocelots. The positive impact on biodiversity is being monitored in collaboration with a local expert from the renowned Senckenberg Institute. The project also has a significant positive impact on the surrounding communities, which are involved from the outset through consultation meetings with local stakeholders. In the heart of Colombia, this project not only sequesters carbon, but also promotes sustainable socio-economic development, provides long-term employment opportunities and protects biodiversity.
