Our Workshop
With Article 6 rules finalized at COP29, countries are now shifting from design to imple-mentation. Many in the Global South are developing frameworks for high-integrity carbon markets but face institutional and technical challenges. Sharing early lessons is crucial to ensure transparency, inclusiveness, and real climate impact.
The session highlights government and practitioners‘ experiences from the Global South with representatives from Africa, Asia and Latin America on building enabling environments for the Voluntary Carbon Market and Article 6. Panelists will share experiences and challenges, authorizations/corresponding adjustments, quality assurance, private-sector engagement and benefit-sharing with communities. The discussion will surface lessons learned, pitfalls and scalable practices that unlock climate impact and sustainable development.
Strengthening carbon market readiness supports COP30’s focus on delivery and accountability, turning pledges into action. It contributes to fair, transparent cooperation and mobilizes finance for mitigation and sustainable development.
